Millan Foundation Spay & Neuter PSA

July 13th, 2010

Cesar Millan and The Millan Foundation launched a new public service campaign on July 9, 2010, aimed at raising awareness in the Spanish-speaking community of the importance of spaying and neutering pets and its direct impact on canine overpopulation. It features television, radio, and print ads, and a community relations effort by Cesar himself which will seek to bring his spay and neuter message to Spanish-speaking dog owners. The campaign is focused on raising awareness of the consequences of pet overpopulation, which includes leaving over 4.5 million dogs and cats to die in local animal shelters each year due to a lack of space. Pitbull Saves Lives

July 9th, 2010

‘Thor’ the pitbull is a true hero. He alerted his family to a fire in the home, and even tried to drag a 3 month old to safety.

The fire started around 3 a.m. in the hallway and spread through the house.

A Red Cross worker said, “Apparently ‘Thor’ woke the family up and even tried to pull the baby and bassinet out of the house. Lately we have learned how important pets can be to a family, and this is as stark an example as I’ve ever seen.”

Thor barked and jumped around until the family woke up. Then he grabbed the baby’s bed and dragged it to the front door. He really is the true hero of this event.

No one in the family was injured, but their home was heavily damaged.

Let’s all just take a moment and recognize how amazing our animals are. They truly are!

South Dakota Supreme Court Rules on Driving With Cats

July 1st, 2010

On August 13, 2009 a Pierre, South Dakota policeman had stopped Patricia Edwards as she was backing out of a parking spot. Edwards was living out of the car with fifteen cats and all of her personal belongings. The officer at the scene ordered the pets impounded and the court later denied Edwards’ request to take the cats home on the grounds that she presented no plan to pay for the costs of their care. Edwards appealed this ruling but the court insisted that driving with a large number of cats in one’s automobile presents an imminent public threat.  In fact, there were so many cats in the car, Edwards failed to see the patrol car behind her and nearly backed into it!  Edwards’ attorney argued that the state provides no authority for the notion that animals traveling in a vehicle must be confined to kennels. "Easy" Like Sunday Morning

July 1st, 2010

Our dreams have come true as sweet Monica (now “Easy”) has found the absolute perfect home! This poor soul was found on Santa Monica and Vine in the hands of two homeless people. Fortunately they realized that they could not provide for her as necessary and they relinquished her to a AAA volunteer and saving her from certain death in the process. Since then, Easy has been incredibly lucky to find an amazing foster home with Christy and now she has found true bliss with her new forever parents. We can only wish that every dog finds a family just like Tamar’s. Read Tamar’s very kind words of appreciation for finding Easy:

“We had tried out three rescue dogs the past two years, but none of them worked with my cat.  Then we found the Animal Advocates Alliance where there were accurate descriptions, gorgeous photos AND VIDEO of many dogs.  Immediately, we saw a dog that could be ours – not just based on her beauty in the photos or sweetness in the video, but because of the way she was described.  AAA described her to a tee with complete honesty and intelligence – they really understand the personalities and needs of each dog.  We are happy to have welcomed Easy into our life.  She’s Easy like Sunday morning, just like it was to find her waiting for us on the Animal Advocates Alliance site.  Working with Phillip was a dream and the whole experience has made our lives fuller.”
