About Us

Animal Advocates Alliance is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation dedicated to promoting the humane treatment of animals through legal advocacy, humane education initiatives, and animal rescue.  AAA rescues animals from high-kill city and county shelters, provides them with necessary veterinary care, and places the animals in safe and loving homes.  Many of these animals have suffered from neglect, mental and/or physical abuse, and physical injuriesrequiring surgery and rehabilitation.  Our organization also works in tandem with other non-profit groups to implement spay/neuter, humane education and other programs designed to reduce the number of animals being euthanized at our shelters.  These programs include free dog training classes, spay/neuter education, shelter networking days, and mobile adoption events.  Additionally, AAA engages in legal advocacy to support the aggressive prosecution of perpetrators of animal abuse under applicable anti-cruelty statutes.

Being a non-profit corporation, AAA relies solely on donations from private donors, in-kind donations from local businesses, and the support of its volunteers.

Mission Statement: To promote the humane treatment of animals through legal advocacy, effecting social change through community  education initiatives, and animal rescue.

Humane Education

As part of our humane education program AAA volunteers and a shelter field officer deliver presentations at various public schools regarding humane education topics (proper pet care, pet overpopulation, and animal cruelty, among others).  Please contact AAA if you are associated with a public school in the Los Angeles area that would be interested in this program!

AAA and the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation also provide free dog training  classes in the Baldwin Park area.  The objective of this program is to educate  the public about the importance of spay/neuter and proper pet care, as well  as to assist them in resolving any basic behavioral issues they may be  experiencing with their pet as an alternative to shelter relinquishment.

Shelter Volunteer Days and Mobile Adoptions

AAA is committed to helping shelter animals through volunteering at the  shelter and holding Mobile Pet Adoptions.  On a bi-monthly basis, AAA  volunteers spend a full day at the shelter photographing, socializing, exercising, grooming (if necessary) and videotaping as many shelter dogs as possible.  Based on our assessments, we prepare an informative description for each dog that includes the dog’s age, sex, weight, sociability with people, sociability with other dogs, and any other useful information that would increase the dog’s chances of adoption.  AAA then compiles a list of descriptions, photographs and video links, which is subsequently networked far and wide in an effort to locate adoptive homes.  AAA also holds several Mobile Pet Adoptions each month, where we take 15-25 dogs from a high-kill shelter and bring them to parks, pet supply stores and other locations where they can be adopted by the public.

AAA is always in need of shelter and Mobile Pet Adoption volunteers.  If you are interested in volunteering with us, please go to our website and register as a volunteer!

Bridge to a New Life

AAA is in need of good foster homes!  As a result of our shelter volunteer and Mobile Pet Adoption programs, AAA frequently rescues shelter animals that are in need of medical attention or simply out of time and at risk of euthanasia.  However, we do not have enough foster homes to accommodate all of the animals we rescue.  We recently launched the “Bridge to a New Life” program to encourage people to foster an animal in need.  This entails keeping a dog at home and providing love, exercise and good nutrition for the animal.  AAA provides food, bedding, a leash, and a collar, and if necessary a small weekly stipend.  In return, fosters receive lots of love, appreciation and the satisfaction of knowing they have become an animal’s bridge to a happy, healthy life!  If you are interested in fostering a needy animal, please contact StephanieL@animaladvocatesalliance.org.
