Help Find Bane! Missing Michigan Police Dog!

November 29th, 2010 by C.J.

Photobucket

A Michigan State Police dog named Bane, went missing earlier this month while he and his handler were looking for a missing 70-year-old dementia patient.

Since Bane’s disappearance, his handler has spent countless hours searching for his companion and has created a Facebook page devoted to finding the dog.

“In August … the K-9 units were out looking [but] they were not able to locate him [and] the search was suspended,” Trooper Rich Tucker told AOL News. “On the weekend of Nov. 13, Trooper Bullis was again called into that area. … Ultimately that subject was located [deceased]. During the course of the search, trooper Bullis became separated from his K-9 unit.”

Bane and his handler were searching a dense, swampy area when Bane got caught in some brush.

“I dropped the lead to untangle him [and] about the time I got him free a deer that had been bedded … jumped up and ran directly in front of Bane,” Bullis wrote on his Facebook page. “Bane gave chase. He was out of sight in about a second and I have not seen him since.”

Authorities searched for more than a week but no sign of Bane. They had to call it off because it’s hunting season.

“We did not want a bunch of people tromping around in the woods with a bunch of hunters, because there is an increased chance of an accidental shooting,” Tucker said.

Although the official search is over, Tucker said several volunteers are still looking for Bane.

Hero Dog Put To Sleep By Mistake

November 18th, 2010 by C.J.

Target, was an American War hero. She defied an Afghan suicide bomber, gunshot wounds and an attempted hit-and-run.

US soldiers rescued her after she alerted them to an attack in February, by barking at a suicide bomber. From that day on Target was treated like royalty by US soldiers in Dand Patan, near the Pakistan border. The bombing could have killed as many as 50 troops without Target’s intervention.

She was shipped back to the United States where she lived with her soldier/master until she escaped last week. After being taken to a local shelter she “mistaken for another dog” and was put to sleep almost immediately. Her owner never had a chance to come and pick her up. When her owner showed up at the shelter Monday morning to see if Target was there, he was informed that his dog had been put to sleep.

The story is heart breaking. She survived bombs in Iraq, but couldn’t survive our animal shelter system here in the states. Kiss your babies tonight.

When Should We Forgive Michael Vick?

November 18th, 2010 by C.J.

You know everyone is talking about the amazing game that Michael Vick has Monday night. The best game of his life. He not only broke, but shattered NFL records and CNN hit the streets asking people if they thought it was time to forgive Michael Vick.

Most people said something to the effect of, “I don’t condone what he did but he paid his debt to society and should be forgiven.”

I personally don’t care about his debt to society. I have never seen one ounce of remorse come out of that man and until I see some kind of understanding and regret about the pain that he caused I personally can’t and won’t forgive him… I’ll go so far as to say that I don’t think anybody should forgive him.

You can’t forgive someone who isn’t sorry. I’m not going to lose sleep over Michael Vick. I’m not going spend my days wishing evil to fall upon him. I’m not going to watch his games when he’s on TV and I’m not going to forgive him. He doesn’t deserve it.

If you want to know when we can all forgive Michael Vick… ask this dog who not only suffered, but is still suffering because of the torture inflicted by Michael Vick.

I don’t care about Michael Vicks amazing football game Monday night because I don’t think that a monster like that should be playing football.

Wild Subway Dogs Of Russia

November 13th, 2010 by C.J.

Stray dogs in Moscow are commuting to and from a city center on underground trains in search of food scraps.

The clever canines board the Tube each morning. After a hard day scavenging and begging on the streets, they hop back on the train and return to the suburbs where they spend the night.
Experts studying the dogs say they even work together to make sure they get off at the right stop after learning to judge the length of time they need to spend on the train…
The dogs choose the quietest carriages at the front and back of the train. They have also developed tactics to hustle humans into giving them more food on the streets of Moscow.
Because the best scavenging for food is in the center of the city, the dogs had to learn how to travel on the subway to get to the center in the morning, then back home in the evening, just like people.

Oogy was a bait dog but that doesn’t keep his family from loving him. Watch the video to see his amazing story. Heartwarming and redemptive, OOGY is the story of the people who were determined to rescue this dog against all odds, and of the family who took him home, named him “Oogy” (an affectionate derivative of ugly), and made him one of their own.
