Tyler, now Cooper, has found his perfect home. Megan and Aaron met Cooper early last week and just fell in love. Cooper went home to sleep in his new forever home for the first time and is now well on his way to a happy, healthy and cong filled life! This poor little guy was dumped at the Baldwin Park shelter by a family who admitted that their child had been abusing him by kicking him. Despite his hard life, Tyler wanted nothing more than to be loved. He loves to play ball, get his belly rubbed, and play fetch with his favorite cong toy. Congratulations to Megan, Aaron and COOPER!!!
Success Stories
One of the most gratifying aspects of our mission is to place an animal in a loving, permanent home. At Animal Advocates Alliance, we believe that all animals are entitled to food, shelter, veterinary care, and, most of all, a person or family to love and care for them. The following are heartwarming tales of animals who found their happy homes with AAA’s assistance.
Murphy Needs Your Help!
September 13th, 2009 by Lee
We hope you enjoyed the video of Murphy’s progress. Murphy was brought to the Baldwin Park Shelter on February 12th by his family because he had lost the use of his back legs. Recognizing that Murphy was suffering, the shelter contacted Animal Advocates Alliance, who agreed to rescue the little guy and took him immediately to the vet. The vet over at Malibu Coast Animal Hospital determined that Murphy had a bulging disc in his spine that was causing pressure on the nerve and resulting in the loss of feeling in his back legs. AAA was told that Murphy had to have spinal surgery to repair the disc immediately, or he would likely never regain his ability to walk. The surgery would only give him a 50/50 shot at walking, but neither AAA nor Murphy were ready to give up. Murphy was escorted to the U.C Davis Small Animal Clinic in Northern California where he had surgery on February 14th. The neurosurgeon was able to repair the disc and Murphy was sent to the ICU for several days. AAA picked up Murphy 10 days later and he has been in foster care ever since. Although Murphy is not yet able to walk, he has shown some voluntary movement in his back legs and tail!! through all of his hard work at physical therapy at the CARE facility in Santa Monica. He has also regained his ability to pee on his own, as evidenced by the number of times he has peed on his foster parents! As you can probably guess, Murphy has racked up quite a veterinary bill or two and hopes that everyone who reads his story will help AAA pay for his continued therapy by making a donation!
So please make a donation for Murphy’s surgery and continued care by clicking here:
Hurray for Pepe!!!
August 18th, 2009 by Lee
Our sweet Pepe (now Pincho) was adopted a few weeks ago and here’s what his new mom has to say:
“So Pepe has become Pincho, the word for a little snack eaten in northern Spain, a lot like tapas that you don’t share. He and Presley are absolutely inseparable. They wrestle like mad men all morning, ride in my bike basket to work, hang out in the bakery, then home again for more crazy play.
Pincho is a rock star at the bakery. Customers know him by name and sometimes stop in just to see him. He sits on the counter and practically jumps into everyone’s arms. Everyone wants to know where he came from and there have even been offers to buy him. The highest bid so for was $4,000, how about that? Like I said, he’s a rock star.”
Lucy/Cha Cha Danced her way to the PERFECT Home!
August 10th, 2009 by Lee
Cha Cha (now Lucy) found the perfect home where she now has a great little chi mix brother (Petie, who is another Baldwin Park shelter rescue) as her best friend. The Colgan’s met Lucy and just fell in love with her and she was the perfect companion during her trip back home. The news back is all positive.
Here is what Lucy’s new human mom had to said about how Lucy and Petie are doing: “Well, just another match made in heaven story – as you all know, Chrissie and I traveled home to Sacramento and introduced Lucy to our other angel from AAA, Petie. I’m so happy to report that Petie welcomed Lucy with open paws and I think Lucy truly felt like she was home. They are getting along famously, Lucy has asked to go outside to do her business a few times now with no indoor accidents to report so far (we’ve been home for about 13 hours now-Ha!). Lucy slept in her little bed all night right next to Petie and at one point in the night I noticed they traded places – sooo cute!” Another amazing rescue! We anxiously await new photos and updates from Lucy and her new family.
Reggie Made it!!!
July 28th, 2009 by Lee
Hi my name is Reggie (previously Herbie). I was rescued from the Camarillo shelter on my last day of safety and placed into a foster home (not sure why we only get so few days to stay alive but I will leave that to you humans to try and answer). The foster family advertised me on Craigslist as “Herbie is going bananas for a new home,” which I was! These very nice people, Kory and Cassie replied and once they met me they fell in love – I knew that would happen. They decided to name me Reggie and I now have a new brother named Tobi and we are the best of friends. I found this note that my family wrote about me:
“Reggie is just a perfect dog. We really really adore having him in our family! He is so sweet and loves to play with Tobi he loves chewing on his toys and other things haha. He is a super loving dog who always wants you to scratch his neck or behind. He always comes up to us and puts his head in our lap then climbs up to sit with us. He is just a super smart and loving dog and we could not be happier. We don’t know what we did before we had him. He just adds so much laughter and joy to our lives and he is the funniest dog I have ever met. He also has learned many new tricks while spending time with us and our very trained Tobi. He now knows sit, down, high five, shake, stay, roll over, stand, jump, wait, leave it, and probably more. He is so easy to train with treats and he loves learning.”
So see I ROCK! And so do many of my other friends still at the shelter. I worry about them so please find it in your heart to rescue them and you’ll see how great your life will become. Got to go play now!
Bryce's Amazing Rescue in his own Words!!!
July 24th, 2009 by Lee
Through the help of Animal Advocates Alliance and Dawg Squad, Bryce, a wonderful Pit Bull, was rescued from the Baldwin Park shelter by Stacy, an absolutely fantastic person who will love him for ever! Here is what Bryce had to say about the rescue in his own words!
Ok so we came home from the shelter and it was so cool because I got to run, and run, and run some more. Then Stacy brought out this squeeky ball that I thought was just sooo much fun! Then she put me in the pool which I wasn’t too sure of, but the second time she did it I pushed off the ramp and swam!!!! It felt so good because it was so hot out. Then came the not so fun part, the bath!!! Does she say you have to have them too so you won’t be smelly? Well I was a good boy and let her get me all clean. Then we got to play with the tug! Although she would not tug on it, she just through it for me to run and fetch. I think she is kinda lazy making me do all the running. Speaking of running…she took me for a run with her sitting on her bike (see lazy) and me running. It felt so good to get all that extra frustration out from being stuck at the shelter for so long. Then I got to have some food. She thought I was silly because I ran to my food and had to knock it over before I ate it. I am having so much fun. Please give my other friends still at the shelter a chance at a life like this. We love you humans and just want to hang out and play and are so confused when we get left behind at the shelter or not considered at adoption events. LOOK AT ME NOW PEOPLE!!! – I LOVE YOU STACY!!!
Kiss Me I’m Irish!!! – Dublin Found His Forever Home!
June 30th, 2009 by Lee
Hi, my name is Dublin and I’m a 2 to 3 year old neutered male Chihuahua and I have now found my forever home! I was with my foster parents for three weeks and I was so perfect that they could not even imagine not having me around so they adopted me! I love them and that was my secret plan all along. The shelter had me classified as a mean dog but I was just scared being in that cold kennel. I am now free and a great representative for shelter dogs everywhere. I’m showing my real personality now and have received many great compliments. I love to play with my rubber duck toy and I just love walks. I’m also perfectly happy just sitting on your lap and kissing your face. Thank you everyone who took the time to get to know me and for saving my life – I plan on enjoying it every single day!
Emma Found the Perfect Home!
May 20th, 2009 by Lee
We are happy to announce that Emma (formerly Peaches) has found the perfect home with a couple of AAA volunteers who fell in love with her at first site and adopted her immediately. Thanks to everyone who looked after Emma and allowed her the opportunity to be rescued and be one of the lucky ones. Emma loves to go on walks and hikes with Sarah and Jake and she loves visiting with other dogs. She is a great representative for the Pit Bull breed and will help educate the public. Judge the owner and not the breed! This beauty is going to live happily ever after!
Coco the Sweet Pittie Found the Perfect Home!
May 16th, 2009 by admin
We are so incredibly happy to announce that Coco’s foster parents have fallen in love with her and decided to adopt her! We think her brother, Cooper, did some convincing as well. We hope you enjoy the following update from Coco’s new family and these new photos as much as we did! Have a wonderful life Coco!!!
“We feel so lucky and blessed to have found such an amazing dog in Coco. We couldn’t have found a better companion for our other dog Cooper. From the minute they met, it was love at first sight. Coco came to us a little timid and scared, but after some time, she has finally made herself at home. If she could have it her way, she would spend all day cuddling and getting belly rubs. We were new to the idea of rescuing/fostering a dog and Animal Advocates Alliance was amazing in working with us every step of the way. I never thought I’d be raising two pitbulls but now I can’t imagine my life without them. They are the most loyal and caring dogs and I’m thankful for organizations like AAA for the work they do. If it wasn’t for them, Coco may not be here with us today. Thanks Coco for selecting us to spend the rest of your life with!”
The Prince Has Arrived!!!
May 7th, 2009 by Lee
A quote from Prince’s new mom, Debi: “I did NOT know that Prince was a “new hope” dog. That is incredible to me because we think he’s awesome! Given the life he’s had, he’s shown remarkable progress in such a short amount of time…I’m so pleased he’s with me.”
• Name: Prince
• Rescued From: North Central Shelter
• Journey: Prince, a handsome Rhodesian Ridgeback mix, was left at the shelter by his owner, who said he had kept Prince locked in a car during the day and let him out at night to guard his property. Having not been socialized with people or other dogs, Prince was fearful and insecure. Unfortunately, the shelter brought out the worst in Prince and he was labeled as people- and dog-aggressive. Just 2 hours before euthanasia, Animal Advocates Alliance rescued Prince, believing that he was a good dog and should not be penalized for his previous owner’s mistakes. Prince was sent to live with a behaviorist for rehabilitation. Just as we thought, Prince was not aggressive – he was just the worst case of insecurity the behaviorist had ever seen in a dog. Prince eventually started to come out of his shell and a true transformation began.
One of our primary goals is to address the source of the pet over-population crisis through education.Click To Read More
